Haimeng CAO
Editions Paris Octobre 2019,
"The media of my work including digital painting, rendering and modeling was influenced by several dystopian novels, especially 1984 and Brave New World and by artists such as Mobius and Katsuhiro Otomo. The theme of my work is mainly about future city landscape design, the atmosphere and mood of the works otherwise indicate the totalitarian and formalized future societies. Every piece of work has unique camera angle and displays spectacular panorama of the city. Each city has different architecture styles and atmospheres. The story is established within those techniques". Haimeng Cao Haimeng Cao is a freelance artist in Los Angeles. As an alumni of ArtCenter College of Design’s illustration department, his digital techniques of creating highly detailed science fictional city landscapes have significantly contributed to the projects and the companies he has worked for, such as Blizzard Entertainment in Irvine, Netease Games in San Francisco, and Framestore in Culver City. Projects including: upcoming film Dune directed by Denis Villeneuve, based on the Hugo Award winning 1996 novel by Frank Herbert. His work has been featured in different digital art media and magazines, such as CG Society, Character Design Quarterly, ImagineFX Reward including: Reward-3x3 International Illustration Awards, 6th Artist Spotlight Solo Art Competition, Light Space Time Cityscapes.
